Bogotá: América in its purest form, al melting pot of cultures and civilizations, divided into a before and after the conquiste. The Muisca called the capital of the confederacy of Zipa, BACATÁ, translated as "end of the fields", an area inhabited for almost a millennium before Christ. The region lived iits historical turning point on August 6 of 1538, when Gonzalo jimenez de Quesada established a military garrison in the place now known as Chorro de Quevedo, La Candelaria, presumably giving the first Mass in the village of Bogotá.
Five centuries later, with nearly 8 nillion people, Bogotá is the eighth largest metropolitan area in America and is the main financial and industrial capital of Colombia.
